President Trump Supports ‘Larger’ Stimulus Payment Than Last Time
On Wednesday, President Donald said that he supports another round of direct payments to Americans – and claims he wants to give out more money than Democrats have already proposed. “I support actually larger numbers than the Democrats.”
House Democrats in May passed the HEROES act. The bill includes a second payment of $1,200 to individuals, up to $6,000 per household, and they would extend the $600 per week federal unemployment insurance benefit through January.
Republicans do not like the additional unemployment benefit. “We had something where they wanted where it gave you a disincentive to work last time,” Trump said in the Fox Business interview. “We want to create a very great incentive to work.”
Trump said he wants to get this money to people quickly, but no immediate timeline is set.
