Miranda is Running for Governor of New York
There’s been talk that actress CYNTHIA NIXON would run for Governor of New York for a while now, and yesterday she officially tossed her hat into the ring.
Cynthia played Miranda Hobbes on HBO’s “Sex and the City”, which ran for six seasons from 1998 to 2004. She also did the two subsequent movies . . . and has done a lot of Broadway shows, in addition to movies and TV.
But she’s putting her acting career on hold for politics. She’s up against sitting Governor ANDREW CUOMO, who’s seeking a third term. Both he and Cynthia are Democrats.
Interestingly, Cynthia is sorta running on a “Fix the Subways” platform. She mentioned the subway problems in a new two-minute campaign video, and there’s a whole section devoted to it on her website. It even says, quote, “Unlike Governor Cuomo, Cynthia Nixon rides the subway every day.”
She’s also campaigning for healthcare, ending mass incarceration, and to, quote, “make government to work again.” Several other candidates have declared. The primaries will be held on September 11th, and the election is on November 6th.
