Florida is the most expensive state for homeowners insurance.
Insurance brokers claim both weather and non weather related claims are up and that Hurricane Irma was a big part. That’s one of the reasons Florida is the most expensive state for homeowners insurance. As reported by Local 10, according to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, more than 76% of all litigation against insurers in the U.S. in 2019 was in Florida.
So if you’ve sued your insurance company to pay your claim here in Florida, you certainly aren’t alone.
I know first hand that my Florida homeowners insurance has definitely gone up, but fortunately the tax appraiser has been kind in their assessments. If the tax appraiser starts to increase the tax appraised values on our homes to match this crazy hot real estate market we’re going to see a tax hit to match the insurance hike.
Florida.
