Hurricane Ian has completely cut off Sanibel Island from Fort Myers. Survivors who chose to ride out the storm are currently being rescued by helicopter. The Coast Guard is doing these amazing rescues right now.
Absolutely crazy what these people must have gone through as Hurricane Ian ripped through our area. The fact that they’re still alive is a miracle.
Here’s some pictures of the destruction in Sanibel Island, taken yesterday. I’m not sure, really, what’s still standing. The lighthouse somehow survived. As for Captiva, I hear that the Bubble Room is still there. Please visit our Hurricane Ian Relief and Recovery Page.
