Overwhelming crowd shows up to funeral of Naples, Florida veteran who died alone
Hundreds of people flocked to Sarasota today to pay respects to Army veteran Edward Pearson who died with no immediate family.
Because there was no family, the funeral director decided to make it open to the public.
Hundreds showed up today to the Sarasota National Cemetery to honor the veteran and Naples resident. Many in attendance were also veterans.
The service, held today at 1:30 was nearly delayed due to the flood of attendees and traffic.
A small look at the crowd at Patriot Plaza. There’s easily more than a thousand people here. The service has been delayed. We are told traffic is backed up on Clark Road and the interstate @FOX13News #Sarasota pic.twitter.com/gyH1FLvPtt
