Stranger Things fans are speculating that Eddie could return in season 5.

Please be warned: This article contains major spoilers for Stranger Things season 4.

If you’re a fan of Stranger Things, you remember Eddie Munson. The original character was introduced in season 4, and his death at the hands of the Upside Down monsters was an eventful one. But did you know that he might not be as dead as you think?

The Kas Theory

In a desperate attempt to distract a colony of vicious Demobats so that Robin, Nancy, and Steve could torch Vecna’s body elsewhere in the Upside Down, Eddie was bitten several times and appeared to of rolled a seven and died. As is often the case with vampires in D & D, his death was tragic and grisly—but it’s a sign that he’ll be back as vampire Kas, a villain lifted right out of Eddie’s beloved roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons.

Wouldn’t be the first time.

The Duffer Brothers have proven before that they can bring back characters after they seemingly died on screen, including Matthew Modine’s Dr. Martin Brenner in season 4, who appeared to be killed off by the Demogorgon in season 1 but wasn’t.

On a side note.

Could Eddie make a return next season as Kas the Vampire? Here are a few more interesting side notes… In D&D, Kas wields a sword and a shield covered in spikes, which resembles the spear and makeshift shield Eddie fashions himself out of a trash can lid and nails before facing the Demobats. Fans have noted that Eddie has bat tattoos on his forearm, which could be a wink to his future as a monster.

Joseph Quinn, who plays Eddie, is keeping his options open for a possible return to the Netflix series Stranger Things season 5. He can’t say for sure if the Duffer brothers have any plans for him, but he’d love to return as Eddie in some way.
