Do You Correctly Say These 10 Commonly Mispronounced Dog Breeds?
When it comes to being a puppy parent, there’s a few steps you’re supposed to follow the first of course being you have name that cute little pup and then you got a pay extra for that iCloud space o because you’re gonna take about million dog photos in the first month.
Lord knows I have a lot of pictures of my dog. In fact, he has his own Instagram. Just look at that cute little face. I know I’m not supposed to talk about Bruno, but honestly, how couldn’t I shamelessly plug his Instagram?

By the way, in case you’re wondering, he’s a Chihuahua and Yorkshire terrier mix. Also known as a Chorki. But I could be saying that wrong. Also when becoming a parent to your new fur baby, it’s important to know exactly how to pronounce your dog’s breed and if you’re like me, you’ve probably been mispronouncing the breed name this whole time. But don’t worry, you’re not alone. Mental Floss put up a list of the 10 most commonly mispronounced dog names. Is yours on the list?
10 Most Commonly Mispronounced Dog Breeds
1. Dachshund… It’s pronounced daks-hund. Or, just “wiener dog.”
2. Rottweiler . . . The correct pronunciation is rot-why-ler, not rock-wahy-ler.
3. Papillon.
.. It’s pronounced just like the French word for butterfly: pa-pee-on.
4. Keeshond . . . It is kay-shond, not kee-shond,
5. Shih Tzu …. There’s nothing inappropriate here. It’s she-dzoo.
6. Shiba Inu . . . It’s a Japanese breed pronounced she-ba-ee-nu.
7. Affenpinscher… It’s pronounced a-fuhn-pin-cher.
8. Weimaraner … This is a tricky one: It’s vahy-muh-rah-ner.
9. Samoyed ….. It’s sam-a-yed, with the emphasis on the last syllable.
10. Bichon Frise . . . It’s pronounced bee-shon free-zay.
