Disconnect Your Kids from Social Media for the Holidays
The holidays are a great time to spend with family.
There is lots of things to do together like bake Christmas cookies, write to Santa, watch Christmas movies and ’tis the season when family take time to visit one another.
It’s the perfect time to take a break from social media and online gaming to focus on creating memories and enjoying each others very merry time.
Below there is a list of ideas we found on FamilyZone that may help you disconnect and plan strategies on getting the kids on board as well.
- Create a media management plan before the holidays begin.
- Take time to help your child find high-quality, age-appropriate content.
- Enforce the 20/20/20 rule to prevent eye damage.
- Be exact in your instructions about cut-off points.
- Give warnings before screen-time ends.
- Get involved in what your child is doing online.
- Establish no-tech zones.
- Rope off tech-free times.
- Don’t use screen-time as a reward
- Use parental controls
